Jeanette enjoys creating jewelry that is simple, elegant and timeless. Many of her design inspirations come from handmade glass beads created by Lampwork artisans whose work is the source of her inspiration. Lampwork beads are created by melting colored glass rods over a torch. They are absolutely beautiful and each bead often stands as an individual piece of art that reflects the personality of the talented artisan who crafted it.
While incorporating Lampwork glass beads into her jewelry designs, Jeanette found herself collecting a number of the amazingly beautiful beads. I can't part with them and these pieces are either on display in my house or integrated into a piece of jewelry I have created for myself. Jewelry-making and Lampwork art have become an obsession to me because I am totally amazed at the intricate beauty of this art form, says Jeanette.
That obsession led to her recent publication of the 2007 Glass Art Calendar. During the Christmas season of 2005, Jeanette had hoped to find a calendar that reflected the beauty and passion of her craft. I wished to find a Lampwork Art Calendar. I couldn't, and so decided to publish one myself!
In my pursuit, I have been very lucky. First, I was able to secure 13 wonderful artists for the calendar. Though most of them knew little about me, they trusted me to produce a quality piece that would tastefully showcase the beauty of their art form. Second, my friend, incredible graphic designer Kathy Milillo [see below] agreed to bring my vision to life more beautifully than I could have imagined. "
